Precoat Candle Filter
The Precoat Candle Filter is an industrial system for precision solid-liquid separation. Its core uses multiple metal candle tubes as a support skeleton. Each tube has a filter cloth sleeve that provides the filtration surface. During the cycle, the system mixes a filter aid like diatomite with the feed stream. It continuously deposits this mixture onto the cloth surface. This action forms and maintains a porous, highly permeable precoat or filter cake layer. Liquid flows under pressure from the outside to the inside of the candles, and the unit efficiently retains solids. The stainless steel pressure vessel supports the complete operational cycle of filtration, cake discharge, and in-place cleaning.
The continuous precoat process stabilizes filtration of streams with high solids, viscosity, or fine particles, delivering high-clarity filtrate. Its robust, closed pressure system ensures process safety with corrosive or volatile fluids. The Precoat Candle Filter therefore serves as a standard unit for efficient, precise separation in applications like catalyst recovery in chemicals, syrup and juice clarification in food & beverage, and industrial wastewater pretreatment.
